Suicidal Scoundrels Teaser Trailer Curiosities

When we begun to consider the “Suicidal Scoundrels” promotion we were sure the first step had to be the making of a teaser trailer. Only a small advance, without showing anything of the game, that would provoke some curiosity and warn about we are about to launch something.

Our video is inspired in some legendary movie teasers that, with the technique of creating expectation about something new is going to happen but not saying exactly what, perfectly conveyed the spirit of the film and help to rise the “hype” as The Flying Spaghetti Monster commands.

Here you can watch some of our inspirations:

Greats, aren’t they?

Within our humble means we hope we have managed to capture some of the spirit of the game, but that is something that only you can judge and therefore… you will only be able to do it when the game comes out! (Who knows when that will be?)

As a curiosity, to point out that we made a subtitled version of the teaser (in spanish) to translate the Kennedy speech. It turned out to be a mistake because that completely deviates the attention from the message we want to transmit.

Luckily we live in the age of internet and we can make a post in which we can explain everything. The fragments of the speech belongs to the known as “We choose to go to the moon speech” of John F. Kennedy. You can read it in English if you click on the link.

It is really a very thrilling speech and we want to encourage you to watch it all. In youtube you can find shorter versions with the most legendary parts of it. Here we link a full version of the speech with english subtitles.

From the speech we select the following phrases for the video. We think that they perfectly transmit the excitement of the beginning of the space exploration, and that of the embark in a great, albeit difficult, adventure.

The eyes of the world now look into space, to the moon and to the planets beyond.

…because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win.

…all great and honorable actions are accompanied with great difficulties, and both must be enterprised and overcome with answerable courage.

…man, in his quest for knowledge and progress, is determined and cannot be deterred. The exploration of space will go ahead, whether we join in it or not, and it is one of the great adventures of all time.

Last but not least. As background sound, we chose the real “sound” of space. Not so long ago NASA published material where they show how it is the “sound” of space. From all the audios we selected the “sound” of the Sun, for a question of nearness and affection for our star (as Carl Sagan said: “we are all star dust” and that makes the Sun our father/mother).

Well, we hope that you enjoyed the teaser and the explanation about its origin.
